James Carroll Cater
MilitaryAssigned to 324BS, 91BG, 8AF USAAF. Failed to Return (FTR) St Avord in B-17 42-97199 28-Apr-44; flak KO'd No.3 engine and set wing on fire, crashed St Avord. Baled out Evaded Capture (EVD) MACR 4235 - Escaped and Evaded through France.
Awards: AM, WWI Victory, EAME.
Post War: Stayed on in the Service and took part in the Korean War, serving a total 13 years in the Air Force. He was later Vice President of Command Airways, a member of the Escape and Evasion Society and of Disabled American Veterans.
