He registered for the WW II draft on 16 October 1940, and he was listed as employed by his father in Hoskins, Nebraska. He was 6' tall; weighed 200 pounds; had brown hair, gray eyes and a 'light' complexion.

He entered the service on 02 October 1942 from Fort Crook, Nebraska. He enlisted in the Air Corps as a Private; he had four years of high school education, was single, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as: "General farmers".

He was released from the service on 13 October 1945, and was listed as a 1945 member of the 84th TCS in Frank Guild's book: 'A Journey to the Far Shore'.
