Evaded (EVD) crashed near Dreux on 12 Jun 44 in P-51 43-25541 He was rescued by a French farmer and his wife who did their best to dress his burns then took him to the local Mayor who found a doctor to treat his wounds. He then returned to the farm where he remained for two months when he and a bomber pilot - who the farmer had also sheltered- managed to reach the American lines. He returned to the USA in September 1944.
