KIA on 13 Nov 43 in b17 'Buttercup' #423142 Assigned target Bremen led by Capt. Wheeler. Poor visibility prevented assembly, severe turbulence and icing is thought to have been the reason for the loss of this a/c. Crashed at Great Haseley, near Oxford, killing all 10 crew. Six of the crew were on their 1st mission.
