Eugene B Ellis
MilitaryShot down on February 4, 1943 in B-17F 41-24589 'Texas Bronco' while serving as Pilot. Aircraft was damaged by flak on a mission to bomb the port area of Emden, Germany (last resort) then attacked by German fighters. ME 110s and JU88s. The pilots crash landed on the beach at Terschelling, Holland and destroyed the plane. 2 were killed and the other 8 became Prisoner of War (POW)s. Ellis is listed at Stalag 3 in Bavaria originally then moved to Nuremberg Langwasser. Ellis's twin brother Herschel was a pilot with the 305th and was shot down April 4 1943 near Roen, France.
