McPherson, KS 67460, USA | 11 November 2005 | Donald Frederick (Don) DAmico, age 82, of McPherson, KS , went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 11th, 2005, while in the company of family members, at Cedars Health Care Center in McPherson, Kansas. Mr. DAmico was born in Geneva, New York on December 25, 1922, he was the son of the late Philip and Lucy (Perry) D'Amico. He was a Hydraulic Pump Rebuilder at Cessna Aircraft in Hutchinson, Kansas for over fiftten years. Don had also worked as a painter for Swick Guth, a salesman for A.C. Fink Tire Dealership, a salesman for Calindo Ford Dealership and he had managed Don's DX Station on West Kansas Avenue in McPherson, Kansas. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, KS. Don was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel of the church. He was a member of American Legion Post 24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715, both of McPherson, Kansas. He had served as Commander for the V.F.W. He was a drummer for the Al Jennings Dance Band for many years.. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp, 8th Air Force, in the European Theatre of operations at Mendenhall, England, as a Sgt in WW II. He was the husband of Betty L. (McElderry) D'Amico. Don was united in marriage to Betty L. McElderry on March 2, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas. She survives of the home In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Mike D'Amico and wife, Linda of McPherson, Kansas; Phil D'Amico of McPherson, Kansas and Larry D'Amico and wife, Tammy of Pittsburg, Kansas; daughter Mary Thompson and husband, Randy of Lansing, Kansas; three sisters Frances Linehan of Newark, New York; Palma Delafave of Seneca Falls, New York; and Marylou Smith and husband, Chuck of Geneva, New York. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. |
