MilitaryVia Jeremy Pitts (Grandson of Clyde E. Bible)
Sgt. Clyde "Bus" E. Bible enlisted into the United Army Air Force April 1944. He completed his basic training at Camp Shelby Mississippi .Then was sent to Flex Gunnery School , Kingman Az.Graduated Nov.1944 as an expert Marksmen receiving 2 stripes for top achievement in accuracy with both pistol and rifle.Newly built Gulfport , Miss.was his next station training under the 560th Officers on Anti-Sub. patrols in the SE US region. Sent to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to finalize his training on the B-17G as a ball turret gunner. Upon the completion of his training he was assigned to the 4th Bomb Squadron Pathfinders of the 34th Bombardment Group at Mendlesham,UK station #156.
He flew combat missions over Germany as far as Berlin and took part in several POW rescue and relocate missions as well as food ration drops over Holland as part of Operation Chowhound. Clyde survived the war and returned home on June 21,1945. Bradley Airfield. He helped demobilize the Army Air Force to Kingman,Az.
