His third mission, 6 September 1943 in B-17 #42-5720, was to bomb aircraft electrical plant in Stuttgart, Germany. On return, ran out of gas and crash landed in northern France. With the help of the French underground evaded capture and returned to England. Returned to states and assigned to overseas training units to train bomber crews. Discharged 31 October 1945. Plane 'Slightly Dangerous'
