Crew mascot part terrier Boike.
Boike, a small black dog, who flew with the Keilt crew from Nebraska to England with his own oxygen mask and parachute. On a test flight over base at Thurleigh on 05 June 1944, the crew decided to try to make news by having Boike jump from their airplane. Boike was dropped from the tail gunner's hatch. Boike survived, but the crew did not get the photograph wanted to send to the Stars and Stripes.
