Prisoner of War (POW). Shot down at Westhafen on 9/13/44 in B-24 Porky 42-95111.
During World War II he served in the 8th Air Force, US Army Air Corps. Part of this service was spent as a German POW after the B24 bomber on which he was a crew member was destroyed by enemy anti aircraft fire. Alvin and two others of the ten man crew remaining alive parachuted into German hands.
