Other Killed in Action (KIA) |
Germany | 30 May 1944 | Per fellow crew member Flight Engineer, SS Salvatore S Elmo, Alex died in another downed aircraft, as he was unable to fly with his regular crew on B-24D L.O.N.I. due to a severe sinus condition. Do not believe Alex died on the date shown, as this was the date that LONI flew without him and was shot down. Alex flew with another craft and did perish to the grief of his regular crew mates who all returned after their ordeals surviving as POW's or with the Underground Resistance who did recover one of their crew. |
