This aircraft was originally assigned to 133 Squadron RAf but was transferred to 8th Air Force, 4th Fighter Group, 336 Fighter Squadron on 22-August-1942. The aircraft was flown by 2Lt. Robert E Smith, O-885110 in escort of American bombers attacking the German airfield of Porjeau at Morlaix, France. The aircraft was listed MIA and apparently ran out of fuel and crashed near Morlaix, France. Lt. Smith was able to abandon the aircraft and managed to evade capture returning to England on 18 January 1943. ref. Escape & Evasion Report #7.
