Personal photograph of Billy J. Murray with the "Donna J" named for his only sister, Donna Joyce Murray. The aircraft is his first P-51D #44-14808. Murray would shoot down his only air kill, a ME-262 on January 14, 1945. This aircraft was later crash landed by Lt. Robert Wiehe SE of RAF Wattisham, Suffolk, England when engine trouble forced a landing. Fortunately Wiehe survived the landing, but the plane was written off.

This was the 3rd P-51D mustang flown by Lt. Billy J. Murray. He received the plane on Feb 2, 1945 and had an accident in it on March 3, 1945, being caught in the prop wash of the pilot landing in front of him. The plane's prop and scoop damaged.
