43-28378
Shot down by flak about two miles north of Dreux, France on 13-Aug-1944. Piloted by Lt. Joseph F. Moser, on his 44th mission. Moser would be held in Buchenwald as one of the “terrorfliegers” (terror fliers), until a Luftwaffe pilot, Hannes Trautloft, toured the camp and found out that Allied flyers were being held there in violation of the Geneva Conventions. More than 160 flyers were transferred to Stalag Luft III just days before their scheduled executions.
