B-17F 42-5059 was delivered Cheyenne 6-Sep-42; Assigned 366BS/305BG Presque Is 19-Oct-42; Rome Fd 1-Nov-42; detailed to fly from Gander, Newfoundland to Prestwick, UK, but #3 engine proved a problem and poor weather prevented return to Gander and forced to ditch off Baldy Pt, Nova Scotia 23-Oct-42. 10RTD, aircraft later recovered. Listed as a Ferry Loss.

Nova Scotia, Canada 23 October 1942 Had engine trouble en-route from Gander, Newfoundland to Prestwick, UK, attempted to return to Gander and crashed into the sea off Baldy Point, Nova Scotia. All crew were rescued.
