Smith, Waist gunner: R.M. Valvaro,Tail gunner: R.A. Rainey (10 Returned to Duty); six crew bailed Hengrave, Suffolk, before pilot attempted to land at Fornham All Saints, Suffolk, but hit hay stack and a tree, followed by a bomb explosion; five civilians were injured in the blast, which included two fireman and an ARP man; Salvaged n/battle damaged 24/5/44.
