Hit by flak. Witnesses described the aircraft as "one solid mass of flame from the leading edge of the wing all the way to the tail." A wing came off and the plane nosed into a spin. Then the broke off at the rear bomb bay wall. Witnesses said the crew never had a chance to get out. All crew members were KIA
