Ford, UK 14 October 1943 277 Sqdn 'C' Flight or Shoreham Flight at RAF Friston/ Shoreham Two Spitfires vectored to US plane in trouble, escort to RAF/USAAF base153 Ford Reference 277 Sqdn Shoreham ORB AIR 27/1601/11 Summary -  At 16:50 hours W/O Waddington and F/S Kelly did spotting for Kenley.  Vectored to 30m S of Base 10,000 feet, where they met a Fortress in trouble.  Escorted to Ford. Reference 277 Sqdn Shoreham ORB AIR 27/1601/12 Record - Spitfire 8020 W/O Waddington, Up 16:50, Down 18:15 Spitfire 7605 F/S Kelly, Up 16:50, Down 18:15 Spotting Beachy.  Found Fortress which had been shot up and being flown by navigator. Directed to Ford where safe landing made.
