I have been at Imperial War Museums (IWM) Duxford for 20 years. From a beginning with the front-of house team, I transferred to a role in exhibit storage. I am now work for the Narrative and Content Department. I am one of the curators in The Second World War and mid-20th Century team. The primary part of my role entails assessing objects offered to the IWM collection. I also enhance the cataloguing for objects already in the collection and contribute to the engagement between IWM and the public. My contribution to The American Air Museum project has been to conduct research into the following aircraft types: the Douglas C-47 and the Lockheed U2. In respect of the latter aircraft, I have negotiated the loan of objects from the Gary Powers’ Collection – held by The National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. My current activity is focussed upon the acquisition of objects which will be employed to illustrate personal stories related to the aircraft, congruent with the exhibition themes.
