Bio

As a medical student in San Antonio and PCP in Sacramento, I've been honored to treat generations of WWII veterans and families in both the Pacific and European Theaters of War. My paternal grandfather enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor as an Electrician's Mate First Class aboard the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard. He was urgently granted service as a shore patrol officer back home to help his wife care for their two sons hospitalized with polio. My father's brother made a full recovery and served with honor as a Marine in the Korean Conflict. My father recovered with residual paralysis and became a vocational rehabilitation specialist at Baylor College of Medicine/TIRR. He also consulted for President Reagan's National Council on Disability which later resulted in the ADA becoming law. My mother's family has military service dating back to the American Civil War. In WWI, my great uncle served in HQ of the Army 322nd Field Artillery Unit in France. Another great uncle was killed at the Second Battle of the Marne, July 15,1918. His namesake and my second cousin, Charles T. Cockrell (T&000086), is the Pearl Harbor/Stalag Luft III POW honored on your website. Contemporary family include a retired USAF Major General and an active duty Army Colonel, the latter of which survived the 911 attack on our Pentagon. You could say that we love our country. Thank you for your excellent work in remembering our heroes, be them Yanks or Brits. God Bless the Queen, and God Bless America.
