I am number 2 of 4 sons to Major Alvin Dan Dalke, US Air Force, retired, who flew as the US Army Air Force co-pilot on "Back to the Sack" at Metfield Air Field and North Pickenham Air Field from May 1944 to February 1945. "Back to the Sack" was serial number 44-40249, B-24J, tail letter "Q". The Pilot was Capt William Long, and my Father started as a 2nd Lt. "Back to the Sack" was attached to the 8th Air Force, Second Air/ Bomb Division, 14th Combat Bombardment Wing (Heavy)/ 95th Combat Bomb Wing, 491st Bombardment Group (Heavy), denoted: "Z", "Ringmasters" & 854th Squadron. I am a US Navy Commander, retired (CDR Gregory Allen Dalke, USN, Retired).
