Spacil was killed in action 0n 8 September 1944 B-17 # 42-97821, "Chaff Wagon", flying our of England for the USAAF 8th Air Force, 390 Bomb Group and 571 Bomber Squadron. It was his second to last mission. And my 7th cousin 1x removed, 2 Lt Harry Wharton Self, was killed in B-17 Serial Number: 42-31064 flying for the 401st Heavy Bomber Group, 613th Bomber Squadron.
