I am the granddaughter of Charles H "Bid" Ware, Jr. Bid served as a Second Lieutenant & Pilot on B-26G #44-68101, 496th Bomber Squadron, 344th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He resided in Virginia prior to the war. B-26G #44-68101, while on a bombing mission over Colbee, Germany, was hit by German anti-aircraft fire and crashed in Germany during the war. Charles was "Killed In Action" in this crash. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
