Bio

My father was Morris M. Jones, 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp., Pilot of a B-17F #42-5232 "Available Jones" Group 305BG, 364BS. Shot down on 4-4-1943. Sold by a double agent after evading capture for 33 days. Taken to Fresnes prison in Paris by the Gestapo. Eventually sent to Stalag Luft III in Sagan until January 1945 moved to Moosburg VIIA.Dad’s  B-17 only had painted on the nose of the plane “Available Jones”.  There was NO character from a comic strip.  There was a B-24 that also was named Available Jones that did have a character painted by the name.  Both planes were shot down.
