Detailed History

A P-38 Lightning of the 311th Ferry Squadron, 27th Air Transport group crashed on 14 February 1944.



The aircraft was on a ferry flight from an airfield in Northern Ireland when the crash occurred. and the pilot Kenneth A Maloney, was killed in the crash.



The site was excavated in 2005, the remains of the aircraft are housed at Lincolnshire Aviation Museum.
