Detailed History

The 2nd Bombardment Substitution Unit (later became the 2nd Air Division) was formed at Old Catton with effect from 12th April 1943. The HQ subsequently moved to Horsham St Faith, and then to Ketteringham Hall.

Name changed from 'Old Catton' to 'RAF Old Catton' to differentiate from the locality known as 'Old Catton' in Norwich and to align with the reality that the USAAF 2nd Bombardment Wing Substitution Unit was formed in RAF Old Catton. Documents I am about to upload will confirm this. Rob Edwards
