Following the end of the First World War, the remains of fallen American servicemen and victims killed in the sinking of SS TUSCANIA by U-Boat UB-77 in February 1918 were reinterred at Brookwood from temporary cemeteries across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The cemetery was designed by American architect Egerton Swartwout and British architect Harry Bulkeley Creswell, it was dedicated in 1937.
