1st Oct 43, B-24 41-23936 'Queen Anne' was attacked by fighters on bombing run on Wiener, Austria. 2 crew members bailed out near Vienna to become Prisoner of War (POW)s. Pilot Oakley crash landed in British held territory near Foggia, Italy. He was a POW at STALAG 17
This unit was on temporary duty with the 9th AAC.
