Left to right looking at the picture are 351st Fighter Squadron pilots Lt. Hardy L. Biddy of Hobart, OK, Lt. Robert E. Banchard of Chicago, Il, Lt Robert C. Strobell of Fairfox Village, Washington D.C., and Lt. Henry J Carbonneau of Dover, NH. The photo was taken at Raydon sometime before the end of August 1944 as Strobell completed his tour by this time. I believe the photo originally came to Roger via Strobell who cooperated with him on his book 'Experiences of War - The American Airman in Europe (Weidenfield, 1991). Roger Freeman Collection

Graduated from Hobart High and attended Oklahoma University. He entered the USAAC in May 1942, trained in San Antonio and Victoria TX, Sikeston MO and Enid OK. Shipped overseas in February 1944 and served in England with 351FS, 353FG, 8AF USAAF. Discharged in October 1945 and awarded the DFC, AM (5 OLC), EAME (3 battle stars).

Edmond, OK, USA 20 April 2014 Edmond--Services for Hardy Leon Biddy, 93 of Edmond, and formerly of Ada, are at 1 p.m. Friday at the Rollow Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Ada. Dr. Roberto Escamilla will officiate. Burial will precede at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada. The U.S. Army 45th Infantry Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Mr. Biddy died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at an Edmond nursing home. Criswell Funeral Home, Ada. **************** The following is from the book, The Men and Women in WWII from Kiowa County (OK): 1LT Hardy L. Biddy, son of Mr. & Mrs. H.L. Biddy, graduated from Hobart High School and attended OU, He entered the Army Air Corps in May 1942, training in San Antonio and Victoria TX, Sikeston MO and Enid OK. He went overseas in Feb. 1944, serving in England and was discharged in Oct. 1945. He was awarded the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, DFC and ETO Ribbon with three Battle Stars.
