Glenn Adkins Blakemore

Assigned to 367BS, 306BG, 8AF USAAF. Shot down 6-Mar-43 in B-17 42-5130 'Sweet Pea', while serving as Radio Operator.
The aircraft was on a mission to bomb the U-Boat pens at Lorient, France. Flak caused damage to the aircraft and he baled out and was captured as a Prisoner of War (POW) after evading for 11 months.
He married Helen Marie Conaghan in 1952. They had one son, David L Blakemore, who became an attorney. Glenn taught English, Speech, and Debate at Wichita High School West from the 1953 - 1954 school year until his retirement in 1983. He died 30-Oct-97 in Wichita, Kansas and was laid to rest 3-Nov-97 in Tonkawa Oklahoma.
