Shot down on 25th mission in B-24 41-28778, 31-Jul-44. Prisoner of War (POW) at Stalag Luft IV. During the winter of 1945 was forced to march west through Germany. Spent 3 weeks in German hospital and had surgery for appendicitis and other complications. Was liberated by Russians 28 April 1945.
