Edward Czyz
Military ROLL OF HONOURLWG, Hartje crew. 381st BG, 533rd BS. Shot down 8 October 1943 in B-17 #42-29765 'Nip and Tuck'. Mission #36 to the shipyards at Bremen, Germany. MACR 883. Killed in Action (KIA). The #2 and #3 engines were on fire. The waist gunners hadn't heard the bail out signal and were still firing their guns when finally alerted. Sgt Czyz was last seen reaching for his chute and sitting in the waist section. A body was found in the aircraft by the Germans that was believed to be him. Buried in the Ardennes AMC.
