Dort Quackenbush was Radio Operator/Gunner on B-17 "Liberty Queen" #43-37624, shot down by fighters and crashed near Glauchau, Germany on the 20 July 1944 mission to Leipzig. He was captured near Zwickau, Germany. Interned at Stalag Luft 4 Gross Tychow/Tychowo, Poland. Prisoner of War (POW). He served in Korea and left the Air Force on 6 May 1972.
