Barth, Germany 4 March 1944 Arrested 7 or 8 hours after bailing out. He saw Right Waist gunner John Hesp's escape kit pictures in the small jail he had been taken to. The Germans told him that Wesp had been killed "by an unfortunate accident". Wesp's parachute probably didn't open. Egan was interned at Stalag Luft 1 in Barth, Germany.
