Clayton H Burdick Jr
MilitaryWhile serving as Radio Operator/Gunner on B-26B-15 MA 41-34971 'Pay Off ' the aircraft was attacked by a German fighter which set the right engine on fire. TSGT Burdick was able to bale out of the stricken aircraft and managed to evade capture returninig to England on 2-Dec-43. (Ref. media.nara.gov/nw/305270/EE-240). The aircraft crashed one mile northeast of Brionne near Rouen, France August 22, 1943. 386th BG was part of the 8th BG from July-October 1943.
