Air Force Day 1945 at Wattisham, home of the 479th Fighter Group and thousands of curious English civilians got their first close up of the P-51 Mustang. Captain Clarence Haynes sits astride the cowling of Lt. Robert I Bromschwig’s 44-15381 L2-T “Kraut Knocker”. Note that the tape has been removed from the flare chute opening. Names of crew in panel are: Cpl. Neil Dornbos, crew chief and Pfc. Henry W Briggs, armorer.
