Clarence Fischer was Pilot of B-17 #42-5431 "Lil Abner", shot down 5 April 1943. Crew bailed out and saw their plane explode. Landing in the Antwerp area, in and around a factory, most of them were quickly gathered by the Germans. Helped by Belgian citizens, Fischer however had time to put on civilian clothes, until his capture on 14 March. [ Losses has Fischer as an evader, but other source says Prisoner of War (POW) with no NARA record. According to NARA he was a Prisoner of War (POW) at "Stalag 7A Moosburg Bavaria 48-12 (Work Camps 3324-46 Krumbachstrasse 48011, Work Camp 3368 Munich 48-11)"]. He most probably arrived at Moosburg after the forced march from Stalag Luft 3 in Sagan/Zagan, Poland where most officers had been interned. Stalag 7A was liberated by US troops on 29 April 1945. Prisoner of War (POW).

Clarence Eugene Fischer was captured April 14, 1943 & not March 14th..... He was shot down April 4, 1943. He was my Mother's Uncle.
