Badly damaged on a mission to Leipzig on 20 Feb 1944, B-17F #42-5859 crash landed near Bozeat, Northamptonshire.



Charles Dodge was Tail gunner on B-17F #42-5788 "AOG, Not In Stock", shot down after being attacked by five ME109s and crashed in Duffel, 8km NE of Mechelen, Belgium, on a mission to Büden, Germany on 22 February 1944. Prisoner of War (POW). He was captured by German S/S troops and was thus not processed through normal German POW procedures.

Wounded during interrogation by the S/S, he was interned in prison camps and did forced labor on a German farm until liberated, surviving the war.
