Alan loved his time in the RAF and was passionate about planes. Eddie Massey became his good friend at 4BFTS Course 26 and they and their wives stayed in touch all their lives. He always enjoyed telling his family about low flying over the Superstition Mountains much to the locals' disapproval. Alan and his wife Marj had a daughter Shirley, a son Tony and two grandchildren Heather and Sam.
