About fifteen minutes after leaving the field in Operation Varsity the glider flown by Lt. Robb, with Lt. Wojtal as copilot, lost a wing and plummeted to earth, killing all the personnel aboard. the glider was being towed by a 79th squadron plane and was a 1942 model, having over 110 flying hours on its Form 1. It had been flown at Maxton and in the U.K. Lt. Robb had been with the organization about one and a half years and was squadron glider, engineering officer.
