Lt. Colonel Hanson was the 78th Troop Carrier Squadron Commander in the 435th Troop Carrier Group. During WWII the squadron transported personnel and cargo in ETO and MTO and participated in Allied airborne assaults on Normandy, Southern France, the Netherlands, and Germany.
