John A. Andrews entered the service on 08 October 1942 from Gainesville, Florida. He enlisted as a Private in the Air Corps. He had four years of high school, was Separated, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as: "Managers and officials, n.e.c.."
The Operation VARSITY, Serial A-8 orders list him as co-pilot of CG-4A, #43-2746?, Chalk #58; towed by C-47A #43-15493, Chalk #29. The tow ship was shot down; four crewmembers perished; the crew chief survived (MACR 13388).
