Stanley Lejkowski was Waist Gunner on B-17G #42-38035 involved in a mid-air collision over Ostend, Belgium with B-17 #43-38273 (also 550th BS) on 1 March 1945 (mission to Ulm, Germany.) He was the sole survivor of the crash and was cared for in a Belgian hospital before being returned to England.
