John Thomas Hunwick

Civilian

British civilian employee at Ridgewell Airbase - Station 167. Home of the 381st Bomb Group. While riding his bicycle, Mr Hunwick was killed in an explosion while bombs were being loaded into B-17 #42-30024 "Caroline". 23 members of the 533rd Bomb Squadron were killed also.



John T Hunwick had previously served in the British Army. He enlisted with the Royal West Kent Regiment in 1906. Mr Hunwick served with the Royal Irish Rifles and then the Northumberland Fusiliers in WW1. He and Alice M Arnott were married in 1915.
