Merrill Phoenix

Merrill Phoenix served as a ferry pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), ferrying aircraft from Gander, Canada, to Prestwick, Scotland.



On 2 September 1938, he and Howard F Allen in a Piper Cub began a flight at Syracuse, NY, which set a world light aircraft endurance record of 106 hours and 3 minutes. The record for a light aircraft had previously stood at 63 hours and 54 minutes.
