John L Jordan
MilitaryNick Jordan
John Jordan attended 5 BFTS (Course 13) from January-July 1943.
John was born in Guilin, China in 1923 where his Plymouth Brethren parents were missionaries with the China Inland Mission. Apart from visiting England in 1927/28, John was educated in China until he was fifteen. He then travelled back to England in 1939 on his own to complete his education.
In 1942, having completed his education, John signed up to join the RAF and was sent to Riddle Field, Clewiston to train with No 5 British Flying Training School. He then became a flying instructor. When the war in Europe ended he transferred to the Fleet Air Arm in the hope that he would see action in the Pacific. However he remained in England and was demobbed in 1946.
John remained in the South of England and started a career in construction administration helping to build the “new” towns. In 1975 he and his family emigrated to Canada where he continued his work in construction administration.
Before John left Clewiston he had signed his name in “Blackie’s” 5BFTS first anniversary book.
