Lafayette, IN, USA 29 November 1919 Born 29 November 1919 by parents Collet Jones and Leslie Gertrude Jones (maiden name Rakestraw) in Lafayette, Indiana, USA. Prior to services he was a college student for 2 years and a part-time theater usher. Harold’s father passed away on 19 February 1944, and Harold was killed in action on Friday, 7 June 1944 after 31 combat missions.

50490 Saint-Sauveur-Lendelin, France 7 June 1944 He was on mission with the 365th Fighter/Bomber Group, 386th Fighter/Bomber Squadron in a P-47D-22 Thunderbolt, tail number 4226128 to bomb railroad bridge at St.-Sauveur-Lendelin, France. After destroying the objective he was hit by enemy flack guns and was observed bailing out of his aircraft. His wingman, 2nd Lt Coburn G. Arledge radioed in that Jones was bailing out about a half mile north of the town.
