Staff Sergeant Cecil Jones was born March 23, 1921. His next of kin were his father, Leondas Jones, and three brothers, Alfred, Ercil, and Charles. Ercil was killed while flying on detached service with the RAF on January 2, 1944. He was from Forest, Louisiana.
He was serving as a gunner aboard B-24 tail #42-95145 of the 389th Bomb Group, 566th Bomb Squadron, when his plane went down over Koenigwasterhausen, Germany, on June 21, 1944.
Because the remains of SSGT Jones and his crewmates could not be separately identified, they were buried together in a group grave at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
