Part of Flaherty Crew. Shot down by fighters and crashed near Bielefeld, Germany on a mission to Oscherleben, GR on 22 Feb 1944 in B-17G 42-31443 'Friday the 13th'. Spent 15 months in a Prisoner of War (POW) camp, Stalag Luft 4. Served rotten potatoes and grass soup.
