Hartford, CT 26 December 1997 SHEBLE. Richard N. Sheble, 79, of Hilltop Ave., Essex, died on Friday (Dec. 26, 1997) at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy (England) Sheble. Mr. Sheble was born in Cape May, NJ, on June 17, 1919, son of the late J. Howard and Dorothy (O'Day) Sheble Jr. He was a graduate of St. George's School, Newport, RI, and attended the University of Pennsylvania. In February 1941, Mr. Sheble was a member of the First City Troop of Philadelphia, a calvary unit. He was among the first National Guardsmen to be called to duty prior to the United States entering World War II. He transferred to the U.S. Army Air Force, rising to the rank of Captain. He flew P-38's and English Spitfires on photo reconnaissance missions over Europe. After World War II, he joined The Home News, East Brunswick, NJ, as national advertising salesman. During his career at The Home News, a predecessor of the Home News Tribune, Mr. Sheble held several key executive positions, including classified advertising manager, assistant to the general manager, business manager, general manager, senior vice president and associate publisher. He continued as a member of the company's board of directors after retiring. He also was an active member of the New Jersey Press Association, serving as its treasurer, and a member of the board of directors. Besides his wife, Mr. Sheble is survived by two daughter, Lane Sheble Reardon of Greenwich and Lisa Sheble of Salisbury; three grandchildren, and a brother, J. Howard Sheble- Frederick, MD. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday (Jan. 3, 1998), 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Essex.
